Due to inclement weather, LRSD Schools/Offices remain closed Thurs., Feb. 20, 2025. Athletic activities also canceled. An announcement will be shared tomorrow about the status of schools Friday. Employees, please monitor emails for updates from HR. Thanks! Stay safe and warm!

The Chicot Reading Challenge is in full swing. During the first week of the challenge, we had 12 students who met their reading goal. This week we had 36 students meet their goal! That is 3 times as many students meeting their goal and many more getting super close! That is some fantastic growth. Educational research is very clear. The ability to read and comprehend is the most powerful indicator of potential for success in school and beyond!
Let's see if we can get even more students to meet their reading goals next week! A little ice can't keep a Chicot Cheetah from reading.
Students have 3 ways to share their reading with me and earn prizes. Students can log into their classlink and read on myON. myON minutes are automatically shared with the school. Students can read at home and complete their reading calendar log. At the end of the month, they get 1 small prize for every week that they read 15 minutes a day. The last method is to create a Beanstack account and log reading there. If you create a Beanstack account, those minutes will not be shared with the school automatically. The Central Arkansas Library System and Beanstack will send a report to the school and I can give prizes for Beanstack minutes once I get that report.
Here are some links that may help with tracking your reading. Students can access myON after logging in at this link. https://shorturl.at/q3IqP . Students can create or log into a Beanstack account at this link. https://cals.beanstack.org/reader365

Due to inclement weather, LRSD Schools/Offices will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025. An announcement will be shared tomorrow about the status of schools Thursday. Employees, please monitor emails for updates from HR. Thanks! Stay safe and warm!

On Friday, students celebrated their friendships with other students with fun at their Valentine's Day parties, but that's not all they did.
