Reading in the Rock is Rockin’ at Chicot! 🎉📚
Our students are diving into their new books and LOVING every minute of it! Parents and guardians, you play a huge role in this reading adventure. Help us keep the momentum going by encouraging your child to read (or be read to) for just 20 minutes each school day. It’s a simple habit that builds vocabulary, boosts comprehension, and strengthens those growing brains!
And here’s the fun part:
If your child logs 100 minutes of reading at home each week, they can bring their Reading Log to the library and trade it in for some awesome prizes! The dates for each week run from Friday afternoon to the next Friday. Let’s keep turning pages and turning up the fun!

Due to the threat of severe weather moving into our area, LRSD will dismiss school early today, all after-school activities are cancelled, and CARE will be closed. Elementary sites will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., followed by secondary schools at 2:30 p.m. This decision was made in the best interest of students and staff, in consultation with the National Weather Service, LRSD Transportation and Emergency Management teams, and surrounding districts. Please note that if tornado sirens are activated during these dismissal times, we will initiate our shelter-in-place procedures, and building doors will be locked until the threat has passed. Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Please stay safe.

Debido a la amenaza de mal tiempo que se aproxima a nuestra zona, el Distrito Escolar de Little Rock (LRSD) cerrará las clases temprano hoy y se cancelarán todas las actividades extraescolares y el Centro de Cuidados y Rehabilitación (CARE) permanecerá cerrado. Las escuelas primarias cerrarán a la 1:30 p. m. y las secundarias a las 2:30 p.m. Esta decisión se tomó en el mejor interés de los estudiantes y el personal, según consulta con el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, los equipos de Transporte y de Emergencias del LRSD y los distritos circundantes.

Dr. Wright's new reading initiative, Reading in the Rock, has come to Chicot! Every student from Pre-k all the way through 5th grade will get free books to add to their home libraries along with other goodies to help them on their reading adventures. The fun started today! Check your child's backpack and look for all the neat stuff. If your child didn't receive their books and goodies today, don't worry, we are giving out even more tomorrow!
