WME Family and Friends,
Yay! It's School Counselor Week! As school counselor at Williams Magnet Elementary, I'm excited that I get to spend time learning with and from all of our scholars. We truly have the best and the brightest. I'm honored that I get to assist scholars academically, behaviorally, and with social emotional learning. PTA began this week with a card signed by each scholar. Thanks to the scholars/families who've gone far and beyond to make me feel extra, extra special this week. Be sure to show appreciate to a school counselor this week.

Heartgram sales have begun! Buttons are $1.00 each with all sales benefiting our WMS DI teams.

Good evening wonderful Williams families!
Our Destination Imagination teams will be selling Valentine buttons again this year as a fundraiser for the teams. Buttons will be $1.00 each and will be delivered the afternoon at the Valentine parties. Team members and sponsors will be in the cafeteria in the mornings starting Thursday of this week to take orders. Students will need to be able to tell us the name of the student, teacher, or other person they are buying for and whose classroom they are in. Students may buy for family members by having them delivered to their own classroom to take home to give out.

5 of our scholars work are currently being displayed at Windgate School of Art at Hendrix College! WAY TO GO EAGLES!

Dear Scholars and Parents,
We are excited to announce a special Popcorn Fundraiser happening this Friday to show our appreciation for our amazing school staff.
What: Popcorn sale for $1.00 per bag
When: This Friday, January 31, 2025
Why: Proceeds will go toward Staff Appreciation efforts
Let’s come together to celebrate and support the hardworking staff who make our school a great place to learn and grow. Your participation will make a difference.
Thank you for your support.

Parents,
Thank you for being so patient as we worked to cooperate with local authorities following a phone threat today. Police have shared that the call was similar to one made to a local hospital; however, they sent out the bomb squad to investigate to ensure our campus was safe. We had a safe and orderly evacuation to the nearby Trinity United Methodist Church while police searched the campus. We are glad to report that NOTHING was found.
We appreciate their quick response and the support of our teachers, staff, and members of Trinity UMC. We have been given the all-clear to return to campus. We originally made plans to have parents pick up after-school CARE students at Trinity, but that is no longer needed since we are back in our building. CARE parents, you may now pick up your children from the school.
School will resume as usual tomorrow. Thank you again for your patience and understanding. Please know that the safety of students and staff will always be our priority. Have a great rest of your evening, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Good afternoon!
For enrichment, we read One Word for Kids and learned how to make that word part of our everyday life. I chose the word kindness for the K-2 classes. They illustrated an act of kindness. The 3-5 classes picked their own words. They wrote what that word means to them personally, why they chose the word, and they illustrated what it would look like. These will go into their Leader in Me binders. Please have them write the word on a notecard or piece of paper and put it where it they can see it each morning before they head to school. I suggested in their bathroom so they would see it as they are brushing their teeth in the morning. Maybe you would also like to adopt that word into your daily life and do this with your child!

We have a new check-in/check-out procedure. We will use the new system on Monday, January 27, 2025. If you have any questions or concerns about this new procedure, please don't hesitate to contact Laura Acklin or Aundra Easter at 501-447-7100.
Check-in:
For check-in, you will simply need to visit the main office and use the computer on the table. The instructions on the computer screen will guide you through the process, and a tardy slip for your scholar will be generated automatically.
Check-out:
For check-out, the process is equally straightforward. You will need your Driver's license or picture ID, which you will scan and follow the instructions on the computer screen. It's that simple.
Visitors to Campus:
We will use the same system for visitors. To sign in as a visitor, you will need your Driver's license or picture ID. The computer will generate a Visitor's tag that you must wear while on campus.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

WME Family and Friends,
Parents and Gaurdians that participate in P.M. pickup, to have a smooth and expeditious process, please ensure you know your car rider tag number. If you need another copy or need to know your number, please call Ms. Cobson at 501-447-7100. Thanks.
